Water Street Tampa’s first office building has attracted another corporate tenant.
Tampa real estate investment firm Sila Realty Trust will lease 10,000 square feet of space in Thousand & One, Water Street’s primary office building, developers Strategic Property Partners announced Thursday.
It’s the third tenant to lease space at Thousand & One, located at 1001 Water Street. The 20-story mixed-use building, slated to open later this year, has also signed a 15,700-square-foot lease agreement with accounting firm RSM, and an 8,500-square-foot agreement with Suffolk Construction Company.
Sila will move its West Shore District headquarters to Water Street Tampa in early 2022.
In a statement, Sila president and CEO Michael Seton called Water Street “the only office location in Tampa that offers a truly vibrant experience for our employees in an environmentally conscious and healthy surrounding.
“The building and neighborhood amenities available to our employees will be unparalelled, which I expect to be beneficial to attract and retain top talent to our company,” Seton’s statement read.
Thousand & One will have 375,000 square feet of office space and 12,000 square feet of retail, along with fitness facilities, two open-air terraces open to all tenants, and another nine private terraces throughout.
Sila had 74 employees at the end of 2020, according to its most recent annual report. The company has invested in more than 150 data centers and health care properties worth an estimated $3.1 billion.
The $3.5 billion Water Street development has already seen a few buildings open, including a JW Marriott hotel and its first residential building, Heron. At least two more residential towers and an upscale Edition hotel are scheduled to open by early 2022.
Water Street is backed by Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment. Vinik is among a team of 15 investors who have loaned $15 million to the Times Publishing Company, owner of the Tampa Bay Times.
